- Past President of the American Numismatic Association (1997-1999).
On August 2, 1997, sworn in as 50th President of the American Numismatic Association by the Honorable Mary Ellen Withrow, Treasurer of the United States at the ANA Convention in New York City.
Received the American Numismatic Association’s Adult Advisor Award for his dedication to youngsters.
During the 2001 ANA Convention held in Atlanta, GA, he was named Country Ambassador to the USA for the ANA’s Regional Representative program.
ANA also honored him with the Glen Smedley Memorial Award for his outstanding and dedicated service to the numismatic hobby and ten years of continuous service on its Board of Governors. He was also recognized by the ANA for sponsoring 200 members.
Also awarded Chairman of the 2002 ANA New York City Summer Convention. As show Chairman, he was the recipient of the ANA’s Goodfellow Award.
- Elected First President of the Society for US Commemorative Coins at the 1983 San Diego Convention for the years 1983-1984 and re-elected for the 1984-1985 terms. He was elected Vice President for the 1985-1986 terms and served as editor (1987-88) of the Society’s newsletter, the famous Commemorative Trail. He was again elected Vice President in 1992, 1993 and 1994, elected as President in 2001, and currently serves as President.
- Past Director and Judge of the Numismatic Literary Guild (NLG).
- Coin Grading Service Consultant (ANACS, NGC AND PCGS).Life member (#1099) of the ANA, AINA, CSNA (CA), CSNS, FUN, GENA, GSNA, ISNA, MSNA, NASC (SM), PNG, PAN AND TNA.
- Member of the 1891 Club, ANS, EACS, ESNA, HNC, NCNA, NPNA, PNG, WCCC, WIN, YNA, etc.
- Four honorary life memberships were bestowed in three days by the following coin clubs in 1998: the Vallejo Numismatic Society, Redwood Empire Coin Club, Fairfield Coin Club and the Delta Coin Club. That’s a record!
- Two honorary life memberships bestowed for: Massapequa Coin Club and Maryland State Numismatic Association.
- Appointed Kentucky Colonel by Governor Paul E. Patton for his distinguished service to numismatics.
- Appointed Honorary Lieutenant Colonel, Aide-de-camp by Governor George C. Wallace of Alabama for his concerns for the Youth of America.
- Appointed an “Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska” by then Governor Robert Kerrey.
